Rising Waves, Sinking Bows

Through thick and thin, communities are supposed to be in it together. We as a nation are not in it together, we are just in it. Fighting and struggling is done best as a group, as a collective. Not lone brigades separated by the vast distances of our lands. We as a nation have lost our mighty stride as a nation together. Instead, we are trying to wield our might separately. We are becoming a nation of wolves who wishes to tear our country limb from limb. We no longer have the unity that has protected us for as long as our nation has existed. The innovation, strength and pride that drove our success and progress is slowly turning into a sense of defeat and mediocrity. We must as a nation preserve our identity as innovators and pioneers. Without this identity , we become dependent on foreign sources for various ventures, which in turn makes us weaker as a nation.
Voices on the right echo this desire yet in my opinion offer little feasible solutions, not as if any other ideology did. Our country’s walls are starting to crumble. We can build all the walls we wish on the outside, without fixing the walls that make the ideals and philosophies of this nation up, we will not survive. There is the sense in the past 20 years that things have gone quite awry in the great city on the hill. From political infighting causing severe splits in our nation’s spirit, to terrorism and disease doing the same to our collective spirits.
From the fires and ashes of destruction comes a new force in our world, a destiny the likes of which we had greatly wished would not occur. It is greatly feared that we as a nation are heading into fascism. The worship of political figures, a steady stream of excuses and rationalizations to make us feel better when one of these figures does something wrong. We are marching towards Armageddon and we have various parties to thank for this. It is not only us, it is the ones outside of our nation that have wished for either our cooperation, subjugation or demise.
From the Islamofascists to the new age communists to the neonazis. As a nation , we are a nation of ideals and slowly but surely these ideals are being tested by the same old tests. Fear, greed, hate, envy and weakness. We as a people must become strong in our values of freedom , democracy and unity. We are selling these ideals away as we allow our legislators to become mirror images of our more weak attitudes. As it is apparent, as of this writing, approval ratings by the public towards Congress and politicians in general are at an all time low. This is not due to the success of these parties in legislating for the betterment of it’s citizens. It is not to say that all politicians don’t try they are all corrupt. I have interacted with quite a few that seemed as if their hearts were in the right place and they were trying to do the right thing. This is what we need in America. We not only need people working on the ground in our communities to make this a better nation, we need people in charge, In Washington or in the state capitol or at your local municipality city hall working on the problems that matter to regular Americans.
Our communities are made of it’s citizens, it is made of the laws and behaviors of those that reside in our communities. These communities large and small make up the fabric of America. If we desire change, that change starts with each individual and eventually ends up with people who are able to enact actual change. We must not get discouraged, we must not become lazy and apathetic, and we must cooperate in order to create the nation we love. We cannot do this if we are constantly fighting each other. The burden of work relies on the legislator, the regular citizen and everything in between. This “work” is nothing more than to work towards progress not just for ourselves but to the community and ultimately America as a whole. This way of thinking is going out of style in the United States. Nobody really cares about the community as a whole, we are more prone to attempt to enrich ourselves nowadays, this attitude must change for our nation to succeed through the times ahead. We are stronger as a wolf pack, not so strong as lone wolves.
